What items are not allowed in the sewer system?
The only items that can go into the sewer system are toilet paper and human waste. Our system uses a grinder pump for each connection and anything else will clog or damage it.
How do I connect to the sewer system?
Process to connect to DNSSD system
- Submit application and payment to People Service
- Engineering and Legal review the application for compliance with DNSSD ordinances
- E&L recommend approval to Board
- Board approves application
- Property owner selects a DNSSD approved contractor
- Property owner/contractor contacts district engineer to inspect installation work
- Once work is approved by engineer, engineer draws easement over service pipe
- All charges from legal and engineering finalized
- Service is turned on by People Service
Requirements to connect to DNSSD system
- Only DNNSD approved contractors are allowed to work on service connections
- One structure is allowed per grinder basin, a variance application is required if additional connections are requested either into the grinder or the service pipe
- More than one structure connected to a grinder basin may require a commercial basin and/or a variance
- Service will not be turned on until everything on list is complete – it is homeowner’s responsibility to schedule inspections
